Joseph Stalin once said "a million is a statistic." So let's put 160 million "missing" girls in perspective. That is approximately the entire current population of France, Germany, and the Netherlands. That is about the entire female population of the USA. Think about that, your mother, your sister, your girlfriend, they would not be there, at all. All because certain cultures value males over females.
I think the most tragic part of all this is that abortion advocates will not care one lick about this. They will not realize that their mantra about a "woman's right to choose" has lead to many women not even being born, and some might even call it a success. Is this really the women's rights that many feminists clamored for, many millions of fewer women in the world?
And before you write me off as some right-wing, anti-abortion nut, the pro-choice New York Times thought that this information was worth telling.
